A humanist wedding ceremony is a personalized celebration of love, equality and mutual respect. It is a non-religious ceremony entirely centered on you and your story — your values, your relationship, your vision for the future.
Our ceremonies are conducted by accredited celebrants who work closely with you to craft a meaningful, memorable event. Whether you want a quiet 20-minute ceremony in a forest or a 45-minute event with multiple rituals and readings, the structure is yours to shape.
Humanist weddings in Romania are offered exclusively by ASUR — Asociația Secular-Umanistă din România (the Romanian Secular Humanist Association). ASUR is a non-profit organization founded in 2010 and the official Romanian member of Humanists International.
In 2026, ASUR’s wedding service became the only EHSN-Accredited Humanist Wedding Service in Romania, certified by the European Humanist Services Network. This means we meet the same European standard as humanist organizations in Norway, Scotland, Ireland, Germany, and across the continent.

Our celebrants offer ceremonies in Romanian, English, Spanish and other languages. Bilingual ceremonies (e.g., Romanian + English for an international couple) are also possible.

Based on your requirements, we suggest 1–2 available celebrants. After an initial conversation (online or in person), you select the one who feels right. You sign a contract and pay a 30% deposit.
You complete a questionnaire about your relationship, values and vision. Your celebrant writes a first draft, and you refine it together over 2–3 revisions. You also discuss logistics: timing, music, vows, rituals, entrance and exit.
Your celebrant arrives 1–2 hours before the start, coordinates with your venue and other suppliers, and conducts the ceremony exactly as you planned it.
In Romania, only state civil registry officers can perform legally binding marriages. Our humanist ceremony is a celebration ceremony — emotional, public, meaningful — but without legal effect.
If you are already legally married in your home country, you can have a purely symbolic humanist ceremony in Romania. Bring your marriage certificate if you’d like to have it referenced during the ceremony, but it’s not required.
We offer humanist ceremonies to all couples of mature, consenting adults, without distinction. The ceremony will be symbolic regardless of the couple’s legal status.
